12.20.05 : Season
Mid-Point And Holiday Break Report
The holidays are a time to reflect
and give thanks. The O'Fallon Flames Subbuteo Club have
reached their season mid-point and are doing the same. It's
been a surprising year for one of the newcomers to the St.
Louis Subbuteo League, and the Flames have had their ups
and downs. Here are the Top 3 Moments and the 3 Most Disappointing
Moments for the first half of the O'Fallon Flames' 2005-2006
SLSL Season.
Top Moments
1. Historic
victory versus Fenton. After a winless 3 matches
in the 2005 Midwest Major and 2 losses to start the 2005-2006
SLSL season, the Flames won their first match in club history
with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Fenton Wanderers.
2. Scoring
a goal against Shaw. In the Flames 2005-2006
season opener the Flames traveled to Shaw and took on the
Rangers, the top club in the SLSL this season. The Rangers
have only been scored on twice all season thus far and Flames
have one of those goals.
3. Having already
played 5 of the 6 matches against the "Old Firm".
Sure, 5 loses aren't top moments, but when the Flames only
have to play one more match against the "Old Firm"
in the second half of the season, the Flames are looking
forward to more positive results.
Most Disappointing Moments
1. Losing with
:05 remaining versus Florissant. In a match
where the Flames were quite possibly playing their best
of the season, the Flames lost 2-1 to Florissant United
on a goal with :05 remaining in the match. Crap!
2. Overtime
loss to Swansea. After scoring first and playing
well enough to win, the Flames gave up the lead late and
lost a tough road match to the Swansea Swans on a savable
goal in overtime. Crap!
3. Having a
record of 3-6-1. Yes, 5 of the loses are to
the "Old Firm" guys, but come on now. Crap!
The Flames are looking forward to the second half of the
season with great anticipation. They look forward to more
fun and exciting matches, hopefully with more positive results.
